We are pleased to share that the latest milestone in the development of the Revolution Very Light Rail (RVLR) demonstrator vehicle has been successfully completed. Having completed extensive testing and validation at system level, both power packs have been successfully installed on the vehicle at the Quinton Rail Technology Centre (QRTC) at Long Marston, Warwickshire.

The power pack was developed by a team of engineers at WMG, University of Warwick. Its features include:

  • Efficient hybrid diesel-electric powertrain
  • Zero-emissions operation in stations, also reducing noise levels
  • Transferring state of the art automotive engine technology to a rail environment
  • Lithium titanate battery packs for performance, safety and durability

Integration and validation testing on the RVLR demonstrator vehicle will continue until April 2021, after which the vehicle will be available to undertake demonstrations to potential rail scheme sponsors and stakeholders.
